“Life wants to live.” – Phil Hale
What does it mean to ‘reclaim’ the ocean? What do dreams and the man who jumped off the Penang Bridge have in common? How do we move on? What gets left behind? What passes in a moment? What stays and lingers for a little too long?
Riwayat (from “riwayat hidup,” meaning one’s ‘life story’) is devised by an ensemble of performers, designers and musicians. Bringing to stage an experiential piece of movement, text, and soundscape that reacts to the immediate and seemingly unending world around and within us.
The second iteration of Riwayat is commissioned by George Town Festival.
