Episode 3 features the driving force behind Kakiseni, someone who has played and continues to play a vital role in Malaysian performing arts and women empowerment.
Low Ngai Yuen started off as the host of award-winning TV programme 3R before becoming a DJ cum producer on WOWfm. She has gone on to produce, direct and create some of the top rated TV programmes in the country. Ngai Yuen is now a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist and a proud mother of four.
Kakiseni has worked closely with the National Department of Arts and Culture to launch and manage grants to the grassroots which benefited 183 organisations and artists. You might remember how they created a professional Black Box in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur to drive audience development.
The Kakiseni Festival has attracted more than 200,000 new audiences per year. Other impact-worthy programmes include Kakiseni Arts Exchange which spanned 12 countries. Between 2017 and 2020, Ngai Yuen produced a series of best-selling children’s titles with MPH that focused on our traditional arts.
Besides the arts, Ngai Yuen also runs two other NGOs WOMENgirls and Global Entrepreneurship Movement and has dipped her feet in the corporate world…
There is much more to say but we shall leave it to Joe.
